    TVBA Members Mid-Level Beekeeping-Spring Management

    • 08 Dec 2018
    • 10:00 AM - 1:30 PM
    • Red Bank Presbyterian Church, 4320 Dayton Blvd, Chattanooga

Stewart Ledford will be leading a mid-level beekeeping discussion on Spring Management. While all members are welcome, first year beekeepers are strongly encouraged to make the time to attend this session.

Managing bees that have overwintered is not the same as managing a package of bees that were installed in the Spring. If your bees make it through the winter you will need to be prepared to manage the spring build up, which will begin in February. Part of this management will be to try to prevent your hive(s) from swarming. Stewart has an outstanding track record of building up strong hives and doing splits to manage swarms. He does an excellent job of teaching very innovative approaches to Spring Management. Stewart presented on this topic at the 2016 state conference and was asked back for the 2017 state conference. He has also presented to numerous bee clubs throughout the state in 2017 and 2018. However, the state conference sessions and the other bee club sessions were only about an hour long. This meeting will be 3.5 hours on this topic, which is what is needed for a comprehensive understanding of the material.

We will be offering lunch, so for planning purposes it would be helpful if you could email Randy Overton at r61328@yahoo.com and let him know if you are attending.

Again, all first year beekeepers strongly encouraged to make the time to attend this class. Even if you have lost your bees this year, you should still attend.

This class is part of your TVBA membership, so there will be no charge.
